Implementing Expert Practice in Induction and Mentoring for Special Education Teachers

This presentation gives an overview of the most important aspects of special education induction and mentoring programs. Additionally, it describes NCIPP's ongoing study of exemplary induction and mentoring programs in the country. The three programs highlighted in this presentation are Cincinnati Public Schools, Special School District of St Louis County, and Olathe Unified School District.

Unpacking Practice: Using Structured Evaluation as a Tool for Mentoring Beginning Special Education Teachers

This presentation highlights the research conducted by NCIPP to determine exactly what occurs during a high quality mentoring conversation. Additionally, it seeks to address the significance of a structured evaluation component during the mentoring process. This research is based on the Cincinnati Public School District, which utilizes structured evaluation to determine the effectiveness of beginning special education teachers.

The 3 Cs of Mentor-Mentee Interactions: Content, Context, and Communication

This presentation examines the main findings from a large-scale research study that looked at three separate school districts. The study sought to determine the most important aspects of induction and mentoring programs. These findings are discussed in terms of practical applications for induction and mentoring programs.
