NCIPP is an Office of Special Education Programs-funded center that aims to improve teacher quality and increase commitment to teaching students with disabilities. This is accomplished through informing special education policy and practice on induction and mentoring and identifying and recommending induction and mentoring implementation strategies for multiple audiences.
NCIPP technical assistance supports district efforts to develop differentiated induction and mentoring programs for special education teachers. As part of our technical assistance efforts, we assist districts and their partner Institutions of Higher Education (IHEs) to identify their needs for improving the induction and mentoring of their special education teachers. Additionally, we work with districts and their partners to develop a plan of action for addressing those needs and assist them in implementing that plan. Finally, to assist participants in doing their work, we provide professional development in selected areas (e.g., how to train mentors, how to conduct effective mentoring sessions with beginning special education teachers).
Eligible applicants will have an established induction program. NCIPP technical assistance will assist districts in enhancing their programs for beginning special education teachers. In applying for technical assistance, please provide information about key aspects of your induction and mentoring program. Applying with an IHE partner is preferred, but not required.
